Cult of Personality

Living Colour, una de las bandas norteamericana más olvidada por el público europeo y que sin embargo cosecharon éxitos a nivel mundial, giras incluídas, a finales de los 80 y primeros de los 90.
Vernon Reid (guitarra), Corey Glover (voz), Muzz Skillings (bajo) y Will Calhoun (batería).

"Cult of Personality" pertenece a su primer LP, demoledor y contundente, "Vivid"; publicado en 1988 bajo el manto protector de Mick Jagger se caracteriza por la fusión de estilos tan variados como el hard rock, jazz, funk, soul, hip hop...."crossover" en definitiva.

Si la canción se caracteriza por una letra confusa o ambigua en la que no queda claro si se trata de un alegato político o todo lo contrario, no lo es menos por el excelente solo de guitarra de Vernon, incluído en diferentes juegos de consola.

Se incluyen varias frases de líderes norteamericanos, como el de la introducción con la frase de Malcom X:

“And during the few moments that we have left, we want to talk, right down to earth, in a language that everybody here can easily understand.”

Así como al final del tema con las famosas palabras de John F. Kennedy :

“Ask not what your country can do for you…”
